The series begins when suspected human remains are uncovered on Whitney Marsh - Jess and Sunny are immediately called to the scene, abandoning their evening plans to Jess’s husband’s chagrin. Dr Balcombe’s analysis reveals that the remains are relatively recent and suggest a grim conclusion: the bod y was pla ced there alrea dy dismembered. With t his ins ight, Jess and Sunny inte nsify their search certai n that other body parts may not be far away. As the investi gation unfol ds, vi ewers are introduced to a divers e new cast of character s: Melinda Ric ci, an outspo ken televisio n commentator based in I reland; Mar tin ‘Mart y’ Baines, an autist ic man li ving wit h his moth er Dot in Deal , Kent; Asif Syed, an Afghan training for his UK citizenship t est; and Ju liet Co oper, a h istory lecturer and faculty hea d at a London university.
