Walking ho me from work on e night , Thana, a mu te seamstress in New York Cit y' s Garme nt District, i s raped at gunpoint in a n alley by a myst erious, masked attacke r. She su rvives and makes h er way back to her apar tment, where s he encount ers a burgla r and is raped a seco nd time. T hana bludg eons this second assai lant to death w ith an iron. She then keeps his .45 cal iber M1 911A1 pi stol, disme mbers the burg lar's bod y, puts the p ieces into pl astic garbage bags and gr adually disposes of them in vario us locations throughout the city. She begi ns to have frequent night mares and hallu cinations of t he first assailant s talking her, and her mental stability begi ns to dim. Tha na is n oticed by a man w hile she i s disposing of one of the ba gged body parts ; retrie ving the ba g, he chases and frighten s her. Fearing another se xual assault, she fatally sho ots him. This e vent furthers her impulse for ve ngeance. Gra dually, Thana transforms her appear ance to bee a more and mor e seducti ve bait, a nd sets out to kill any man who annoys her. Near the end of th e film, she dons a nun� 39;s ha bit and red lipstic k to attend a Hallow een party w ith her boss and co-worke rs.
