The story begins i n 1996 when Colonel Sodh i, now 7 0, visits his sister and her famil y. However, e ven after over half a century , the nightmares of his intense battle and its afterma th often return to haunt him. O ld Sodhi and youn g Amar begin to bond a nd Sodhi acco mpanies Ama r to Burma (Mya nmar) for an assignme nt from BB C to shoot a d ocumentary o n the st udents against th e Military J unta for freedom and d emocracy. In Singapo re, Sodhi vi sits the places whi ch brin g back the memories of him as a Lieuten ant in the Bri tish Ind ian Army Lt. Sodhi meets a beauti ful phot ographer Maya who inspires hi m to chan ge. Sodhi fall s in lo ve with M aya who joins th e Indian National A rmy. Old Sodh i lands in Burm a with Amar, and is welcomed by a n Indian girl Rani. They acciden tally get caug ht in the st udent pro test and firin g by the M ilitary Junta t o suppress the student agitation. When the soldi ers of t he Military Ju nta get rou gh and vio lent with A mar and Rani, old Sodhi i s sudden ly trans formed into t he young L t.Sodhi and kills th e two Burmese soldiers to defend his gro up.Old So dhi and his group& amp;#39;s escap e from the B urmese sold iers runs par allel to t he attack by the Briti sh bombers on Lt.Sodhi& ;#39;s unit. In 1944, the Indian Nat ional Army, tired, hungry, cold, feverish, sick had reached Impha l to def end it aga inst all the odds piled heavily agai nst them . In a scho ol set up b y Rani&# 39;s gr andmoth er, Old Sodhi fin ds the phot ograph of Maya and realizes tha t Maya has been dead.
