In the eighth and final season, our beloved Bridgeton teens tackle new challenges as high schoolers such as: driving, d rugs, sexual inexperi ence, enthu siastic consen t, porn and th e teenage min d, can cel cul ture, their c hanging bod ies, and (in t he end) fear of the looming fu ture. Throu gh it a ll, friendshi p is the corne rstone for surviving this time o f life – whet her one’s pu berty is j ust beg inning, like for Nick who gets his fi rst growth spurt, or near its conclusio n, like for a maturing (and p rematurely ba lding) Andrew . At the height of the season, when many of our chara cters are in crisis, C ompassion (pers onified as a new creat ure voice d by Holly Hunter), emerges as a crucia l way forwa rd.
