In the eighth and final season, our beloved Bridgeton teens tackle new challenges as high schoolers such as: driving, dr ugs, sexual inexperience, enthu siastic conse nt, porn and th e teenage mind, c ancel cu lture, their ch anging bodies, and (in the end) fear of the looming fut ure. Thr ough it all, f riendship is the cornersto ne for survivi ng this time of lif e – whe ther one’s puberty is just beginning, like for Nick wh o gets his fir st growth spur t, or near its con clusion , like for a maturi ng (and premature ly balding) Andrew. At th e height of the season, when ma ny of our charact ers are in crisis, Compassion (personified as a new c reature voiced by Holly Hunter ), emer ges as a crucia l way forward.
