Despite enjo ying hi s work, phot ography (especially of the female fo rm) and drumming, Crane wanted to be a movie star . So it wa s with s ome reluctanc e that he acce pted the ti tle starri ng role in a ne w televisi on sitcom cal led Hogan&am p;#39;s He roes (1 965), a WWII POW comedy. To his surp rise, t he show became a hit and catapulte d him to tele vision stard om.
