In this season, the show went back to airing one new episode a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up the second half-hour with episodes from previous seasons and some of the prime-time specials from the 1980s. This entire season, along with the second half of season 6, is available on Garfield and Friends: Volume 5 DVD set . Also worth n oting i s that here , a new theme son g was ad ded that was written by J.R. Johnst on and Neil Pan ton. The the me was sung by J.R. Johnston. Th is theme song was no t shown i nternationally, and as a res ult, it doe s not app ear on t he DVDs ( although Ga rfield& amp;#39;s quotati ons are kept in tact). This new in troduction se quence used mos t clips f rom Seaso ns 5-7 and a few fr om the first tw o seasons, as well as Ga rfield in Paradise a nd Garfiel d's Fel ine Fanta sies.
