In this season, the show went back to airing one new episode a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up the second half-hour with episodes from previous seasons and some of the prime-time specials from the 1980s. This entire season, along with the second half of season 6, is available on Garfield and Friends: Volume 5 DVD se t. Also worth n oting is that h ere, a new th eme song was a dded that w as writ ten by J.R. J ohnston and Ne il Panton. The theme was sun g by J.R. Johnsto n. This t heme so ng was not s hown internat ionally, a nd as a result, it does no t appear o n the DVD s (althou gh Garfie ld& #39;s qu otations are k ept inta ct). This ne w introduction sequence use d most clips fro m Seasons 5-7 a nd a few from the fir st two seasons, as wel l as Garfie ld in Paradis e and Garfie ld' s Feline Fan tasies.
