In this season, the show went back to airing one new episode a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up the second half-hour with episodes from previous seasons and some of the prime-time specials from the 1980s. This entire season, along with the second half of season 6, is available on Garfield and Friends: Volume 5 D VD set. Also worth noting is that h ere, a new theme so ng was adde d that w as written by J.R. Johnst on and Neil Pan ton. The theme was sun g by J.R . Johnston. This theme song was not shown inter nationally, and as a result, it does n ot appe ar on th e DVDs (alt hough Garf ield& ;#39;s q uotations are kept intac t). This new in troductio n seque nce used mo st clips from Seaso ns 5-7 and a few from the fir st two s easons, as we ll as Garf ield in Parad ise and G arfield& #39;s Fe line Fanta sies.
