Series 7 of Doc tor Who is expected t o air on BBC On e throughou t 2012 and 2013 .[1] The BBC announced the news of t he new ser ies, whi ch will con tain fourtee n episodes, o n the offici al Doctor Who site on 8 Jun e 2011. [2] Series 7 will begin its run in the Autu mn of 20 12 with five regular s tand-alone episodes and a Chri stmas Sp ecial. It w ill then be fol lowed by the re maining eig ht episo des in 2013. [3 ] It has bee n announc ed that the E leventh Docto r, played b y Matt S mith will retur n for the full series.[ 4] Karen Gillan , who plays Amy Pond, wi ll return for t he series, as will Arthur Da rvill as Amy&am p;#39;s husband Rory Williams.[ 5][6] Thi s series will s ee the depa rture of both Amy and Ro ry after an encounter with the Weeping Ang els in episode five .
