Series 7 of Doc tor Who is ex pected to air on BBC One throughout 2012 and 2013.[1 ] The BBC a nnounced the ne ws of the new series , which will contain fourt een episodes , on the offic ial Doctor Who site on 8 June 2011.[2 ] Series 7 will begin its run in the Autumn of 2012 with five reg ular stand -alone epi sodes and a Christmas Sp ecial. It wil l then be foll owed by the re maining eig ht episodes in 2013 . [3] It has b een announ ced tha t the Eleven th Doctor , played b y Matt Smith wi ll return for t he full se ries.[4] Kare n Gillan, who plays Amy P ond, will retu rn for the series, as w ill Arthur Darv ill as Amy&am p;#39;s husband Rory Will iams.[5][6] Thi s series wil l see the depar ture of both Amy and R ory after an en counter with th e Weeping An gels in ep isode fi ve.
